Q: When are Neighborhood Association meetings?
A: Meetings are held quarterly, on the third Tuesday of January, April, July and October in the chapel of Vaughn Park Church of Christ (Vaughn Road and Fieldcrest/Perry Hill). Meetings begin at 6:30 pm and Officers commit to keeping the one-hour meetings on schedule so attendees can count on adjournment no later than 7:30 pm. Signs will be posted throughout the neighborhood to remind residents and the meetings are open to all residents of the neighborhood.
Q: What annual events does the Association host?
A: The Association hosts two annual events: the Spring Party and the Holiday Party.
The Spring Party is an annual event, chaired by a resident member and supported by a team of volunteers. The type of party may change from year to year. It may be an ice cream social or a cookout with food and soft drinks. It may include activities for kids ranging from a huge inflated playground to face painting and neighborly networking. Residents are sometimes asked to bring a food contribution in a covered dish to accompany the hot dogs and hamburgers provided. Information will be spread prior to the event to give information about the party and if residents should bring a dish. All residents of Vaughn Meadows are invited and welcomed, even if they are not members of the Association. Both the young and old gather together at a pre-designated location and a lively and enjoyable time is had by all.
Every December, the Association hosts a Holiday Party in the elegantly decorated home of a VMNA member resident. Wine, beer and soft drinks are provided by the Association and residents are urged to bring an hors d’oeuvre. All residents of Vaughn Meadows are invited and welcomed, even if they are not members of the Association. It’s a wonderful time to meet other neighbors and enjoy an amazing evening. Dress festively!
Q: Is there an annual Yard Sale?
A: Yes! In 2011 VMNA began its annual Yard Sale. The event is generally held on the second Saturday in June. Should this date be rained out, the event will be held on the third Saturday in June. The Yard Sale is open to the entire neighborhood, both members and non-members. The Association will advertise and promote the Yard Sale in local papers and online. Homeowners display their items in their own yard or driveway and keep all monies collected. It's a wonderful time to do some spring cleaning and make some extra money!
Q: What is the Beautification Award?
A. The Beautification Award is given monthly from April through September every year. The central objective of the Beautification Award is to enhance the beauty of an already very attractive neighborhood through a friendly curb appeal competition among VMNA members. The Beautification Committee will select one home each month to receive the Award. Judging is based upon the total exterior appearance of the property as viewed from the street, to include the care and repair of the home's structure, as well as the design and appearance of the property's landscaping. Winners receive a $50 gift card to Southern Homes and Gardens, the Beautification Award sign posted in their yard for the month and a photo of their home on the website. Only current VMNA members are eligible to win. JOIN TODAY for your chance to win.

SECURITY CAMERAS
Q: Who pays for and maintains the security cameras?
A: We, like many neighborhoods around Montgomery, have installed security cameras at the entrances to our neighborhood to deter criminals. We do not tolerate crime in our neighborhood and work actively to stop it in its tracks. Installed in 2017, the security cameras were purchased with funds raised by residents and and gifts from our city councilman and county commissioner. The power to operate them and their long term maintenance is the responsibility of the Neighborhood Association and maintained through membership dues. Please join.
Q: Who has camera access?
A: The Security Camera Committee has access to the camera data, which belongs to the Association. Camera footage can only be obtained by contacting Joe Guillot. Please keep in mind, camera data requests must have a narrow and specific window of time to be effective. Also, please note that camera data is only stored for approximately 20 days, after which the data will be lost because the DVR has limited storage capacity.
Q: What are VMNA Rules for gaining access to camera data?
1. Don’t delay reporting the incident. You must file a police report.
2. Provide a time, within one hour, when the crime occurred.
3. Incident must be serious. Not a theft of someone’s bicycle.
4. Try to get as much information about the incident as possible. If you request data, we may put the incident out over the neighborhood email group to see if anyone else might have seen or heard something. It is critical to get a good idea of the time, place of the offense and also the likely direction the offenders took when they departed your home. Check with your neighbors to see if they have any security measures on their property that can help you narrow down a time frame before making your request.
5. Provide a flash drive (at least 16 MB) to be used to provide the data to police.
6. It is our policy to provide the camera data to police, not to residents of the neighborhood.
